Sweet & Sour Chicken

Sweet and sour dishes are very common in Hong Kong.
The balance of sweet, sour, and salty created a unique sweet and sour flavor.
This is one of our favorite Chinese meals in my family.
I hope you can enjoy this recipe.
Ingredients:
  • Chicken Thighs/Legs
  • 1 Bell Pepper
  • 8oz: Pineapple
  • 1 Egg, beaten
Marinade (for Chicken):
  • 1-1/2 tsp: Soy Sauce
  • 1-1/2 tsp: Garlic Powder
  • 1-1/2 tsp: Sugar
  • 1 tsp: Black Pepper
  • 2 tsp: Sesame Seeds
  • 1 tbsp: Sesame Oil
For Frying:
  • 1 Egg
  • 3-4 cups: Cooking Oil
  • 1-1/2 cups: Bread Flour

Sweet & Sour Sauce:
  • 3 tbsp: Ketchup
  • 4 tbsp: Zhen Jiang Vinegar or Balsamic Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp: Sugar
  • 2 tsp: Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp: Water
Instructions:
  1. Chop the bell pepper and pineapple into small dices.
  2. Cut the chicken into pieces. 
  3. Marinated chicken with soy sauce, garlic powder, sugar, black pepper, sesame seeds, and sesame oil.
  4. Mix well and marinated for 20 minutes.
  5. Then coat with egg and bread flour.
  6. Carefully transfer the chicken into the frying pot for deep fry until golden. 
  7. Remove and set aside.
  8. Heat 1 tbsp oil, saute bell pepper and pineapple.
  9. Pour in the sweet and sour sauce, add the deep fried chicken to saute then serve.
  10. It is great to serve with rice.
