Sweet and sour dishes are very common in Hong Kong.
The balance of sweet, sour, and salty created a unique sweet and sour flavor.
This is one of our favorite Chinese meals in my family.

Ingredients:- Chicken Thighs/Legs
- 1 Bell Pepper
- 8oz: Pineapple
- 1 Egg, beaten
Marinade (for Chicken):
- 1-1/2 tsp: Soy Sauce
- 1-1/2 tsp: Garlic Powder
- 1-1/2 tsp: Sugar
- 1 tsp: Black Pepper
- 2 tsp: Sesame Seeds
- 1 tbsp: Sesame Oil
For Frying:
- 1 Egg
- 3-4 cups: Cooking Oil
- 1-1/2 cups: Bread Flour
Sweet & Sour Sauce:
- 3 tbsp: Ketchup
- 4 tbsp: Zhen Jiang Vinegar or Balsamic Vinegar
- 2 tbsp: Sugar
- 2 tsp: Soy Sauce
- 1/2 tbsp: Water
Instructions:
- Chop the bell pepper and pineapple into small dices.
- Cut the chicken into pieces.
- Marinated chicken with soy sauce, garlic powder, sugar, black pepper, sesame seeds, and sesame oil.
- Mix well and marinated for 20 minutes.
- Then coat with egg and bread flour.
- Carefully transfer the chicken into the frying pot for deep fry until golden.
- Remove and set aside.
- Heat 1 tbsp oil, saute bell pepper and pineapple.
- Pour in the sweet and sour sauce, add the deep fried chicken to saute then serve.
- It is great to serve with rice.
